Shameless.
A social Android app that turns screen time into a shared leaderboard, playful roasts, and friendly accountability.
Back to work
Overview
Shameless uses Android screen-state data to measure screen-on time and share daily totals with private groups. Members can follow a leaderboard, react to the current leader, and exchange playful roasts.
Challenge
Screen-time data needed to stay accurate across days and app restarts while giving people clear control over what they share.
Approach
I built the app with React Native and Expo, added a Kotlin bridge for Android Usage Access and background sync, and used Firebase for authentication, group data, notifications, and Cloud Functions.
Outcome
Shameless is available through Google Play internal testing, with group leaderboards, activity feeds, profile photos, notifications, and controls for screen-time sharing.
